Born in Scotland, Kym Trippsmith has spent her life exploring the place where performance and political action intersect. She is a longtime member of The New Old Time Chautauqua, a traveling vaudeville show that has crisscrossed the Pacific NW for more than 30 years. She’s led songswaps, taught vocal techniques, musical expression and improvisation, and composed countless stories and poems. Kym’s sung folk ballads laced with political satire, unvarnished truths, mystical clarity, family honesty and sly humor on hundreds of stages. She loves to sing stories alive, weaving characters from the highways and byways of our joyous and sometimes weary world with haunting melodies, fearless lyrics and a rich creamy voice that takes listeners into the heart of her musical musings. Most recently, Kym published an extremely funny novel “Amazon Queen” (available @ Amazon.com) about her time spent on the waters as a pirate of San Francisco Bay. These days, Kym hosts the weekly Feisty Females Radio Show at KOWS 92.5fm (www.kows.fm) out of Sebastopol California every Friday from 11am to 1pm, manages a stilting troupe (Diva Galactika), and occasionally produces events as the CEO of Amazon Productions. Also known as Mamazon, Kym is the “way cool” mom of two extraordinary kids who inspire her to work and sing for environmental justice and peace every day.
