The lymphatic system is called Rasa in Sanskrit, meaning the river of life. Keeping this river flowing allows our tissues to receive nourishment, which is the secret to being and looking healthy. Our lymph fluids allow hormones to get from one endocrine gland to another and play an important role in our reproductive health. The lymphatic system is also called the Immune system, which we all know is important for fighting foreign invaders and staying healthy. There will be demonstrations on how to map the lymphatic system in your body with an emphasis on breast health. There will be time for Q &A about our breasts and immunity, massage assessments for experiential learning & what tools can support change and prevent diseases. Students will leave having a clear understanding of the lymph system and how to keep it and their breasts healthy.
*Breast Checks will be continued throughout the entire weekend.

An irreverent look at hawthorn and her place in the hedge! Learn how she tricked an innocent bystander, into becoming a dancing fool...If you’ve had it up to here with perfection and are willing to take a look over the edge at other options, let hawthorn be your guide! Beware! She is a tricky wicket!
From healing herbal infusions of the flowers and leaves to Ponce, a traditional Mexican winter punch; from Chinese haw flakes to hawthorn syrup, tincture, elixirs and oxymels you can make in your own kitchen, this session explores several species of hawthorn from the Snoqualmie Valley in Western Washington to uses of the ubiquitous haw around the globe. Lots of sensual experience here!
What magic lies in hedges and edges? What life lingers in soils undisturbed for eons of time tended by simple, everyday shrubs, bushes and trees and cared for by ordinary folk? What becomes of us when we open to the mysteries of traditional wisdom and the way of the wood? Let us journey together and see what unfurls...
Keeping whole, or returning to wholeness after ground-shaking experience, is the goal. How might we ask nature, spirit, friends and self to bring us back to balance after we've tumbled into the unknown? Kat will share tales and techniques based on decades of fieldwork in healing traditions, sometimes featuring psychedelic plants and mushrooms. Shamanic species are becoming globalized, yet knowledge of how to dive into them and return from the journey whole, able to help others, is elusive. Daily life too can cause upheaval, so we need techniques of grounding and self-care to keep our balance. Kat will explore this challenge and offer insights and tools.
For over twenty years, Kat has worked with an indigenous Mazatec curandero and his extended family, in rural Southern Mexico. His tradition and shamanic skills invoke various psilocybin mushroom species, Salvia divinorum, home-grown tobacco saints, and other powerful spirits. Kat has participated in these ceremonies while chronicling the evolution of this clan. The healer's descendants are three generations of single mothers and grandmothers, who are like seeds that have been scattered widely onto unfamiliar ground, as they seek a way to meet changing conditions while shepherding their offspring. With her characteristic stories, Kat will share some insights she has gathered into healing, adapting to that which seems beyond our control, and respecting traditions as they evolve.
Breaking Down Boundaries of Self Expression (in front of each other?)
If you have self chatter that says phrases like: “I can’t dance, I am a bad singer, or I don’t play an instrument because my sister does, I hate my voice, or I wish I could draw, paint, sculpt, write, express without hearing the opinions of others of the past, present, and future go through my head,” then this class is for you.
Experience auricular acupuncture in a safe setting. NADA was originally developed as a 5 point needle protocol for aiding in addiction and recovery. Each participant can receive needles and feel the effects of the treatment used not only for addiction but for PTSD. Jennifer trained and was certified as an Acu Detox Specialist at Lincoln Hospital in Bronx, NY with crack addicts in 1999. She also worked in Oakland and SF with Heroin and Methodone detox. Since then her patients have experienced profound transformations with the protocol with food addictions, co-dependency, extreme stress, arrythmias and trauma. A nervine tea will also be provided and an explanation of the herbs discussed.
Demonstration of Sho ni shin: the Japanese form of acupuncture and acupressure in babies and children, massaging the meridians and using essential oils at the proper dilution for common imbalances.
This workshop is intended for intermediate/advanced herbalists who wish to develop some diagnostic training to evaluate treatment strategies when working with clients. Throughout this workshop, there will be plenty of hands-on practice. You can expect to taste many different (alcohol-based) herbal extractions and gain experience feeling how our herbal allies can immediately affect/change our pulses.
During the first half of this workshop we will cover the basics of TCM Pulse Diagnosis. We will dive into the proper etiquette of taking a client's pulse, how to find the correct positions, and learn the organs affiliated with each pulse. Throughout the second half of the workshop you will gain a grounded understanding of three basic descriptors when feeling the pulse and learn western herbs that are indicated for these descriptors.
Integrating pulse diagnosis has completely transformed my herbal practice. My intention is that you will leave this workshop with enough confidence to start using the basics of pulse diagnosis in clinical sessions and (hopefully) elevate your herbal practice!
