Kathren shares classes, workshops, and retreats in Wisdom Ecology—reconnecting people with their inner wisdom voices, indigenous wisdom practices from around the world, and the wisdom of nature. She is an adjunct professor at the California Institute of Integral Studies, where she has taught classes such as Plants and People: Understanding the Plant World through Relationships, and The Ecology and Poetry of Trees. Committed to full-spectrum learning, Kathren designs curricula that speaks to the whole person, including intellect, heart-based wisdom, somatic understanding, and our interconnectedness in the web of life.
Kathren earned her B.A. from University of Texas at Austin in Biogeography and Botany, and a Ph.D. from University of California, Davis in Plant Ecology. She is a Certified Yoga Teacher and Breema Bodywork Practitioner. Kathren worked directly with Angeles Arrien, Stephen Buhner, Carole Guyett, and Pam Montgomery studying indigenous wisdom and plant spirit healing. She continues to weave body-centered awareness practices, plant spirit healing and creative visualization into her integrative mentoring, transformation and healing work with private clients. Elizabeth is a seasoned practitioner with over 25 years of experience in acupuncture, herbal medicine. She has a big nerdy side and combines her understanding of Chinese medicine with functional and herbal medicine to help her patients and students learn how to heal in the deepest way. Elizabeth lives in Sebastopol with her daughter Flora and practices in Sebastopol and Petaluma.
