Amelia Norris

With over 20 years of experience in curriculum development, Amelia has successfully taught a wide variety of subjects to an amazingly diverse group of people. Her students have ranged from kindergarten-aged children to retired grandparents. She has had success teaching other aspiring educators, as well as business executives. She is passionate about education and loves to share her methods of finding success in learning.

Amelia has been educating her own two children from home for the past 8 years and has had success including them, their curriculum and their class schedule in many travels together. She has been able to capitalize on a variety of resources publicly available to families who choose remote learning as their primary form of education.

As the current Chair of the Governance Committee of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA, Amelia has been a champion of their “Find My Genius” program. Find My Genius is a special summer learning program that helps at risk children stay on track or get ahead on their reading and math skills while providing summer camp style experience. Lessons focus on vocabulary, spelling, grammar, reading, writing and math. Activities conducted by the YMCA include swimming, arts & crafts, camp songs, outdoor games and exciting field trips. Through all, an emphasis is placed on character values, healthy eating and physical activity.

Amelia recognizes that we are at a historic and pivotal time where so many more resources are now readily available to those who want to take a “Do-it-Yourself” approach to education and learning. Like any other DIY project, why not consult an experienced professional before you begin?
