Susan Marie Herbal

Susan Marie is a Community Herbalist and Green Witch practicing in the Wise Woman Tradition. Born and raised in the rolling oak hills of Sonoma County.  Susan Marie now lives nestled by the sea in the redwoods in Arcata, CA.

Like many, she sought herbalism in a desperate need during a time of ill health. Healing herself with nourishing food, plant medicine, and energy therapy altered her course into a deep relationship with Herbal Medicine, and she's never looked back.

 As an herbalism educator based in Humboldt County, Susan Marie offers a variety of valuable free resources and innovative, exciting learning programs both in person and online. Each offering is designed to help you overcome the hurdles between you and practicing home herbalism with ease and confidence. Susan spent her time in university studying the art of teaching, and has worked both in the traditional school system, as a private tutor, and in her own private studio teaching art and photography to children. Throughout her myriad transformations in life, teaching has been the red thread running through it all.

 As a Green Witch, Susa Marie works with the plants as sentient beings who can communicate with us in their own way. She was initiated as a Green Witch by Susun Weed in 2018, and it has been one of the greatest sources of meaning and joy in her life. As a Celtic & Germanic descendant, she celebrates the Seasons by turning the neo-pagan Wheel of the Year, with an emphasis on the Celtic cross-quarter holidays.

Susan Marie has been studying Herbal Medicine for over a decade, starting at the California School of Herbal Studies and is currently enrolled in the Ten Month Herbal Studies Program at the Dandelion Herbal Center.  She is grateful to Susun Weed, Terri Jensen, Trinity Ava, Allison Poklemba, Jessica Shepherd, Authors & Herbalists Rosemary Gladstar, Richo Cech, Juliette Bairacli-Levy, Michael Tierra, Ellen Evert Hopman, and Michael Moore for their offerings.

 When she's not playing with plants, she is either on a hike with her little black cat, reading, or making art. She loves to intuitively paint and draw, bake, and spend time with her family. She believes everyone is an artist & an herbalist. It is our birthright.
